Platform Engineering Team Manager (Contract)

Location: Baar/Remote Country: Switzerland Rate: 960/day CHF
 

I am seeking a highly skilled and experienced Platform Engineering Manager, on behalf of our client, a leading European Energy provider, to lead their dynamic engineering team in designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable on-prem and cloud-based platforms that forms the foundation of our technology ecosystem. As a Platform Engineering Manager, you will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction, fostering innovation, and ensuring the seamless operation of our clients platforms. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving efficiency, reliability, and growth across the organization.

The role will report into the Group Head of IT Infrastructure and Security and will be part of a wider team responsible for Secure Infrastructure, which includes Cyber Threat Defense team and Cybersecurity Risk Management Team. The role will also involve collaborating with Regional IT Infrastructure managers and their respective teams, as well as IT Business Solutions team, and other third party IT service providers, all of whom form part of Global IT.

Interaction will also be required with Business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

Technical Leadership: Provide strong technical leadership by guiding the platform engineering team in architectural decisions, best practices, and efficient development methodologies.

Platform Development: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps teams, to define and deliver features, enhancements, and integrations that align with business objectives.

Architecture and Scalability: Drive the design and evolution of the platform architecture to ensure scalability, performance, and reliability. Identify opportunities for optimization and implement solutions to accommodate increasing demands.

Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of platform engineers. Foster a collaborative and innovative environment, promote skill development, and empower team members to deliver their best work.

Project Planning and Execution: Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and resource allocation. Ensure that projects are executed efficiently, deadlines are met, and deliverables are of the highest quality.

Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce coding standards, code review processes, and quality assurance practices to maintain a high level of code quality and reliability.

Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement, automation, and optimization within the platform engineering workflow. Drive initiatives to enhance productivity and streamline development processes.

Collaboration: Foster effective communication and collaboration with other engineering teams, stakeholders, and cross-functional groups to align platform efforts with broader company goals.

Risk Management: Proactively identify potential technical and operational risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Ensure the platform remains secure, compliant, and resilient against potential threats

The successful Platform Engineering Team Manager will be required on site for 3 days a week, with the remainder remotely, therefore to be considered for this position you must reside within a commutable distance of Baar, Switzerland OR hold the appropriate eligibility to work, on site, in Switzerland.

Day rate: 960 CHF (Swiss Francs) per day

Location: Remote/Baar, Switzerland with occasion travel across Switzerland, Hamburg & Rotterdam

Duration: 3-6 months initially with an Opportunity to go permanent
