IT Technician - Erdington/Acocks Green - On site

This role requires 5 days per week on site - 2-3 days/week in Acocks Green and Erdington

INSIDE IR35

IT Technician required for a leading client based in the West Midlands. You will come on board to provide a high standard of technical support and ICT service delivery to schools through various channels and be the first point of contact for all ICT issues for pupils and staff. The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting and installing hardware and software as necessary and keep track of the assets of the schools.

Key Skills of the Role:

  • Develop and maintain all of the ICT systems to ensure maximum availability, access, and efficiency.
  • Work with the ICT Operations Manager to ensure the network is operational during agreed access hours and resolve failure problems.
  • Carrying out routine and ad hoc device management tasks including regular proactive checks of hardware, monitoring of software installations for 100% compliance and ensuring all peripherals are in working order.
  • Manage the schools' back-up systems and ensure backups are executed successfully
  • Maintain ICT records in Every system and produce monthly reports for management.
  • Respond to incidents and requests for support logged by staff, in an appropriate manner by having a detailed understanding of the Trust ICT Helpdesk processes
  • On a daily basis manage the mobile asset estate to ensure the security and working order of devices.
  • Assist with the installation of workstations, printers, telephones, and software in accordance with licenses, as well as resolving hardware faults, including the repair of ICT systems, down to modular level and occasionally component level.
  • Support and instruct pupils and staff in the use of the network, Internet, and software.
  • Maintain an asset register of all school ICT equipment including regular audits of mobile devices.
  • Monitor and administer the schools' systems, including reprographics and telephony, in accordance with guidelines and provide reports to the ICT Operations Manager as required.
  • Monitor the anti-virus status of devices and remediate any issues.
  • Update the web filtering service when requests for access are made in accordance with change management protocols.
  • Administration of the Google Workspace environment and management for users/software for Chromebook devices.
  • Support schools in maintenance and updating of school websites
  • Support the Trust in maintaining and updating the trust Intranet
  • Contribute to the ICT knowledge base providing solutions for the ICT team.
  • Maintain stock and refurbishment of toners in our reprographics fleet and liaise with photocopying suppliers for any issues that require a service engineer.
