Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud & Server) (Permanent)

Location: Manchester, Greater Manchester Country: UK Rate: £46k - £50512 per annum
 

A Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud and Server) is required for my client based in Manchester. This is a hybrid position, with 1-2 days per week on site (potential for some flexibility). Candidates must be locally based, no more than 1 hour outside of Manchester.

Our client is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Cloud and Server) to work within their Digital Services team.

The successful candidate will:

  • Proactively support the provision and development of an Information and Communications Technology service to meet the needs of the organisation now and in the future.
  • Support the delivery of the blueprint for the future development of the technical landscape,
  • Focus on the use of server and cloud technologies as an enabler to deliver organisational outcomes, also supporting the delivery of third line support services.

You will have:

  • Extensive experience working in IT infrastructure or an equivalent role
  • Experience in all aspects of designing, planning, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a complex on-prem and cloud infrastructure environment.
  • Proven experience designing and supporting cloud-based infrastructure solutions.
  • Proven experience acting as the technical lead on large and technically complex projects.
  • Experience deploying large complex infrastructure solutions, in the cloud or on-prem.
  • In-depth understanding of security in relation to on-prem or cloud deployments.
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices, for example interpretation of National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) guidance, Microsoft security best practice, etc.
  • A general understanding of networking and DMZ networking, including within Azure.

You will also have knowledge and demonstratable experience across a wide range of technologies, as listed in the role profile, including:

  • Azure, AD DS, AD FS
  • Microsoft Entra ID and Conditional Access
  • Group policy, DNS and DHCP
  • RADIUS, WAP
  • PKI and certificate infrastructure
  • Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, AOVPN
  • Windows Server 2016 and above
  • Monitoring (SolarWinds)
  • Backup technologies (Rubrik)
  • Dell, VMware and NetApp data centre technologies

The role will involve working an out of hours, On-Call rota which includes an additional payment of around £4000 per year.
