Technical Product Support Engineer

Brea, CA

Our client is looking for someone to join a leading provider of networking products worldwide as we continue to expand our operations in Brea, Orange County, California and globally.

The Position

The Product Support Engineer position provides pre & post sales support to customers and business partners by way of product demonstrations, product presentations and delivery of professional services. You also will use defined procedures to establish parameters for our clients in the application, use, testing and support of products.

  • Provide client (direct customers and channel partners) support and technical issue resolution via email, phone and on-site support
  • Take full ownership of an issue, develop and maintain excellent relationships with all our customers and partners, and help in continuously improving the support service to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction
  • Facilitate product support for both pre and post-sales in all product lines
  • Prioritize both time and case load by working independently as well as part of a team to provide customer support
  • Perform function verification tests of customized S/W and H/W
  • Assist the Sales Team at technical trade shows or conferences
  • Escalate urgent issues and work with R&D in providing solutions to customer's application issues
  • Case creation and logging of all customer communication using Salesforce

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Engineering Degree, we prefer Computer Information Systems or Electrical Engineering but willing to accept the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of related work experience in a customer or product support role.
  • Solid understanding of the technical fundamentals of networking. Should have technical knowledge of TCP\UDP
  • Experience with Ethernet Switches: Managed, Unmanaged, Layer2, Layer3, and Routers
  • Knowledge of Serial Communications: RS-232, RS-422, RS-485
  • Knowledge of Basic Digital & Analog Circuits
  • Experience and ability to troubleshoot Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite & Visio

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Good interpersonal and communications skills
  • Excellent phone manners\skills
  • Good time management with the ability to multi-task
  • CCNA certified
  • Skilled in using diagnostic tools such as Wireshark
  • R&D background experience
  • Basic knowledge of wireless networking and cellular communications
  • Basic knowledge/experience with Video Servers: Encoder, Decoder, IP Camera
  • Knowledge of Embedded Computers
  • C/C++ or Visual Basic experience
  • VM Ware experience
