Responsibilities

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Are you an innovator? Are you ready to focus on technology and make a real impact for your customers most challenging software problems? Aerospace is looking for a Software Engineer to join our growing Software Systems Engineering Department (SSED) team, the corporation s east coast center of software systems expertise. Some of the activities of the position include:

KEY FUNCTIONS

  • Support cloud-focused technical areas that include application migration to cloud environments, cloud containers, cloud controllers, commercial clouds, and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Provide software technical support to space, ground and launch programs in the commercial, civil and national security domains.
  • Support Software/IT research and prototyping
  • Participate in technology studies, code analyses, independent software assessments and research efforts. Examples include: assessments of efforts to virtualize software and put it on a cloud, evaluations of performance of applications in clouds, design and assessment of clouds, assessments of software technologies (eg microservices) in cloud environments.
  • Prepare technical reports and other presentations to disseminate findings, guidance and technical information to as wide an audience as possible.

Some travel will be required. This position is located in Chantilly, Virginia.

Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 8 years of increasingly responsible professional experience
  • Experience in software engineering and development of complex, software-intensive systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with cloud/virtualized environments, assessment of applications for migration to the cloud, performance analysis of cloud applications, experience setting up cloud environments, or experience working in commercial cloud environments (eg Amazon Web Services)
  • Experience on critical, large scale, large team systems or software intensive systems for space.
  • Experience in software/IT acquisition, source code analysis, model-based software engineering, and/or software metrics.
  • Current TS/SCI
