We have a great opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our development group. We are developing a brand new luxury apartment community in San Diego, CA.

The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Superintendent with the coordination of the implementation of the project.? ?Duties include maintaining certain aspects of the project schedule, managing the submittal approvals, project status reports, coordinating delivery of materials and any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.? Qualified candidates must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.?

Essential Duties Include:

  • Review all drawings and specifications for construction conflicts. Write RFI's (Request For Information) and expedite answers for efficient responses.
  • Know and understand the subcontract documents as they apply to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Have working knowledge of project schedules.
  • Expedite safety requirements for assigned tasks.
  • Request and follow up on project submittals required from Subcontractors and distribute to appropriate persons.
  • Prepare and maintain long lead item list for project.
  • Ensure that assigned materials and equipment are ordered for fabrication in adequate lead time as instructed by Project Superintendent.
  • Procure materials and/or equipment as instructed by Project Superintendent .
  • Receive and distribute information on clarification and changes in the work for areas of responsibility. Obtain and check subcontractor's pricing and assist in assembling change order requests as directed by Project Superintendent.
  • Assist in documenting changes; maintain project records, red line transfers and correspondence.
  • Review and respond to correspondence to and from subcontractors and vendors for assigned tasks.
  • Prepare and distribute meeting minutes as directed by Project Superintendent.
  • Be familiar with the company policies on personnel, quality management and assurance, safety, EEO, labor, bonds and insurance as required.
  • Be a leader in open communication with team members. Promote good relations with all parties.
  • Participates in company required training by established deadline.
  • Complies with all Fairfield standards, applicable health and safety rules and regulations, as well as applicable local, state and federal laws.

Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of a variety of construction field concepts, practices and procedures.
  • General understanding of construction related documents.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented; ability to manage conflicting priorities and to adjust priorities on a daily basis.


  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering
