Lead Ab Initio Consultant (Permanent)

A brilliant new opportunity has opened up with a well-known retail bank for a technical expert specialising in Ab Initio to join its data management team to take ownership of the next phase of a 2-year project to implement Ab Initio as an enterprise data platform.
Our client is keen to hire an individual who can work collaboratively with the current data management lead on multiple work-streams ensuring a successful implementation and adoption of the platform, while focusing on user experience too. The perfect candidate is someone who has fantastic end to end technical skills in Ab Initio data engineering/ETL, strong Datamodelling experience (creating logical models) and ideally an understanding of data management/data governance too.
The role would be perfect for someone who loves innovation, is keen to hit the ground running and drive change in an organisation that is moving from Legacy systems to modern digital solutions. You'll be constantly looking to push the boundaries and make ensure that our client remains at the forefront of modern technology, bringing the team along on the journey with you!
Responsibilities:
- Working alongside the current data management lead on different work-streams
- Ab Initio ETL development and automation
- Creating logical data models
- Finding the most efficient use of the tool as well the best user experience
Skills & Experience:
As a data management lead, you will be required to have a combination of technical, analytical, and project management skills. This includes:
- A minimum of 5- 10 year's experience working as technical expert in Ab Initio
- Experience of working on similar Ab Initio implementation projects
- Development and delivery of ETL processes, data migrations, data warehousing and BI applications
- Ability to provide technical leadership in designing and developing Ab Initio ETL processes, continuous flows, queues and micrographs/graph. Testing and performance enhancement.
- Being well versed in Data Parallelism and Multi File System (MFS)
- Expertise includes ETL architecture (high level design and low level design),
- Experience of Agile delivery and process automation
- Datamodelling experience, in particular creating logical models using tools such as ERD, UML, ERwin.
- Experience of both Agile delivery and process automation
- Data management and basic data governance understanding - data lineage, data quality (using similar tools such Collibra, Ataccama, Purview and Informatica)
- Data analysis and visualisation experience using Power BI
- A relevant degree or certification in data management, data science, computer science, information systems, or a related field would be highly desirable
