Up to £37,500 + 5 % annual performance related bonus

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Junior SRE Engineer to Join Robert Walters as a Workforce Consultant. As an Employed Workforce Consultant, you will benefit from permanent employment with Robert Walters and will be deployed on an interim or project basis into our clients' organisations, in return we will provide you with an opportunity to develop your skills with ongoing training and professional accreditations!

Key aspects and responsibilities of the role:
* Collaborative Development: Partner with other teams, using your expertise to guide design, development, and delivery of products and solutions built with multiple different platform technologies and application stacks.
* Cloud Operations: Integrate applications with cloud platforms (eg, AWS, Azure), ensuring they meet the operational standards for high availability and resilience.
* Automation & Tooling: Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline cloud operations, reduce manual efforts, and enhance the overall efficiency of deployments and incident management.
* Performance Optimisation: Work on application performance tuning, collaborating with other SREs and Product Engineers to identify and mitigate performance bottlenecks.
* Observability and Monitoring: Work on implementation of code-based instrumentation & telemetry to enable accurate visualisation and insights into the behaviour of our systems at scale
* CI/CD Pipeline Enhancement: Contribute to the creation and improvement of CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable software releases.
* Monitoring & Incident Management: Assist in implementing robust monitoring solutions, ensuring quick detection and resolution of any issues in the production environment.
* Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of code, processes, and infrastructure configurations to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing.
* Leadership, Mentoring and Team Development: In this aspirational role, you'll be technical lead and mentor senior and junior colleagues, acting as guide and subject matter expert in DevOps and SRE.
* Strategic Thinking: Represent the Atlas SRE in the SRE Strategy working group, developing and evolving the holistic vision of SRE across the organisation as a whole.

Essential skills/experience required:
* Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and proficient in applied experience.
* Hands-on cloud experience, especially in AWS. AWS certification preferred.
* Hands-on experience developing scalable, modular infrastructure as code projects using tools like Terraform, Cloudformation, and Ansible
* Fundamental knowledge of cloud networking.
* Deep proficiency in Observability, reliability, scalability, performance, security, enterprise system architecture, toil reduction, and other site reliability best practices with the ability to implement these practices within an application or platform.
* Fluency in at least one programming language mainly with Python.
* Deep knowledge of software applications and technical processes with emerging depth in one or more technical disciplines
* Proficiency and experience in observability such as white and Black Box monitoring, SLO alerting, and telemetry collection using tools such as Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk, etc.
* Proficiency in continuous integration and continuous delivery tools (eg, Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform, etc.)
* Experience with AWS Cloud Services like IAM, S3, EC2 etc and container orchestration (eg, ECS, Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
* Experience with troubleshooting common networking technologies and issues
* Ability to identify and solve problems related to complex data structures and algorithms
* Ability to expand and collaborate across different levels and stakeholder groups
