Job Title: Operational Technology Architect/SME

Location: Remote - (ad-hoc travel to client site in Edinburgh)

Contract Duration: 9 months (extensions available)

We are seeking a highly experienced OT Subject Matter Expert to oversee delivery of applications & infrastructure projects across a portfolio of platforms & applications.

Key Responsibilities

OT Application Performance & Resilience

• Provide SME leadership for performance improvement of business-critical OT applications
• Improve monitoring, fault detection, and operational management to minimise service disruption
• Develop and maintain a Strategic Asset Management Plan

Technical Authority & Design Governance

• Design Authority for changes to existing landscape
• Review, challenge, and approve architectural changes to Platinum, gold, and silver applications
• Work closely with application vendors, internal IT teams, network providers, and operational stakeholders to design, test, and authorise change

Upgrade Approval & Operational Assurance

• Authorise completion of Operational Acceptance Testing
• Approve handover into live operational support
• Own and approve key go/no-go decisions for upgrades and releases

SME Leadership & Knowledge Development

• Set technical standards and best practices for the application portfolio
• Mentor and develop Engineers
• Ensure a robust support and project engineering service

Deep Technical Expertise

• Maintain and develop knowledge across platforms
• Engage with external technical forums and contribute to internal documentation, standards, and processes

Major Incident & Fault Analysis

• Lead or support root cause analysis for serious incidents
• Act as a senior escalation point, working with service providers
• Ensure incident resolution aligns with SLAs and operational priorities

Essential Skills:

• Expert in enterprise operational technology
• Expert in SCADA & ADMS platform architecture
• GE Vernova PowerOn (strong preference)
• Expert in ODMS architecture
• AVEVA PI (strong preference)
