Overview
Our client is an AI-focused startup based in San Francisco. They're in the financial services sector and they need a Software Engineer who has experience across the stack. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving hard problems end-to-end in a highly autonomous environment while collaborating with other high-performing team members.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain production-grade software across the stack
- Develop high-performance Back End systems primarily in Python
- Build clean, responsive, and intuitive Front End experiences using React
- Collaborate closely with product and research teams to translate complex ideas into usable systems
- Contribute to technical architecture decisions and raise the overall engineering bar
- Operate effectively in an environment with high autonomy, ownership, and impact
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Experience working at a high-growth startup, ideally with less than 100 people
- Strong performance in math, algorithms, or competitive programming environments (eg, math Olympiads, ICPC, Codeforces, Kaggle, etc.)
- Solid experience with Python for Back End development
- Hands-on experience with React (or similar modern Front End frameworks)
- Strong computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, systems thinking)
- Ability to move quickly while maintaining high standards for correctness and quality
Nice to Have/Bonus Qualifications
- Exposure to or hands-on experience with machine learning (model integration, experimentation, or applied ML systems)
- Experience at a high-frequency trading firm, quantitative trading firm, or similarly performance-critical environment
- Experience working at a high-growth startup, particularly in early or scaling stages
- Familiarity with distributed systems, performance optimization, or Real Time systems
